The fire that broke out on Sunday,16 January in the mountains above Simons Town in the Western Cape have now been contained.
According to a social media post by the NCC Wildfires, crews from the Table Mountain National Park, as well as the City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Service, has been dispatched to help blaze the fire.

Crews have also responded to a fire in the Game Camp, near Rhodes Memorial.

The Cape Winelands District Municipality’s Fire Services have also been dispatched to help contain a fire in the Matroosberg mountain area in De Doorns that broke out on Friday.

Meanwhile, Table Mountain National Park recently announced that the Fire Danger Index (FDI) for the greater Cape Town area is regarded as Very High.
“Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) kindly requests the public to exercise caution at all times. Do take extra care with all open flames and equipment that can cause sparks,” the Facebook post read.
They went on to say that if you spot a fire along the mountain, please call the TMNP emergency number on 086 110 6417 or 107 from a landline and 021 480 7700 from a mobile phone.
