When it rains, it pours. Or at least, that’s what it may seem like for travellers looking to head to the United States for the first time. While fully-vaccinated individuals eager to curb their wanderlust will now have the chance to visit the US from November 8, first-time visa applicants will need to wait a bit longer.
According to IOL, the first available visa appointments start from May 2022 in Durban and August 2022 for Cape Town and Johannesburg.
However, the process is always developing and appointments could always be pushed back or moved forward. Despite the sliver of hope, this is still a major blow to South Africans eager to make their way to the US after the excitement generated around the reopening of US borders.
If you’re a traveller looking to head to the US, make sure you visit ceac.state.gov to apply. Applicants will have the chance to choose from a few visa options, from non-immigrant visas to immigrant visas. Once you’ve submitted your application, you’ll be directed to the next step which will include scheduling your interview.
