I’ve always dreamed of purchasing my own SMEG appliance one day, writes Cape {town} Etc’s Lynn Cupido. But with a R1.3 million price tag, I may need to count my lucky stars that I at least have a refrigerator. Is this the future? Because I clearly can’t afford it. I’m more than happy to spend my days cruising the showroom floor though, and thankfully, SMEG has something incredible in store for us window shoppers.
Retro refrigerators that come in all the funky colours and R3000 toasters that, let’s be real, probably make the best-tasting toast this side of Africa. Ney, the world! If you’re a SMEG enthusiast or simply love admiring the awesome colours, SMEG has recently opened its first stand-alone store this month.
While the high-end Italian brand has been in South African homes for quite some time, this is the first time eager buyers can browse and purchase their appliances in its own dedicated store, reports Business Insider.
Grab your debit card, hop in your car and head to one of the richest places in Cape Town – the Old Village in the Constantia Shopping Centre, and get ready to spend all your hard-earned cash on their trendy appliances.
As you can imagine, the store offers a wide range of products, including their must-have Dolce and Gabbana branded retro fridge, which will only cost you a cool R1.3 million. Honestly, who wants to purchase a plane ticket to Mauritius when you can buy a Dolce and Gabbana fridge! Imagine all the neat technological tricks it can do, like voice activation, brewing your morning coffee and taking your kids to school.
You’ll need to have the set, though, so make sure you grab the accompanying toaster for only R12 300 – all must-have items for those looking to taste toast straight from God himself.
Looking for something a little cheaper? No, worries. SMEG’s popular FAB range is always a winner and offers various small appliances in a range of rainbow colours. The dedicated store has every appliance you can think of under the SMEG name – freestanding cookers, a small laundry range, blenders – to name but a few. I mean, what’s R20 000 compared to R1 million – small change in my opinion.
The SMEG store is open seven days a week, and customers are treated to a few fun and incredible activities to improve their shopping experience.
Their store will include regular cooking demonstrations and all customers are greeted with freshly brewed coffee straight from their SMEG coffee machine!
Sounds like a store I’d like to call home.
