Cape Town authorities are on the hunt for assailants who opened fire on five individuals in Nyanga on 28 April. The attack resulted in the deaths of four victims, with the fifth individual receiving medical attention at a nearby hospital.

Colonel Andrè Traut, the spokesperson for the Western Cape police, stated that the shooting occurred within the Lloyd informal settlement on Govan Mbeki Road. Police responded to a call at approximately 9:40pm, discovering three men and a woman in their twenties with gunshot wounds inside a shack. Another victim, also suffering from a gunshot wound, was taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to IOL, the reason behind the shooting remains unknown at this time.
Colonel Andrè Traut emphasised that detectives from the Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit are actively searching for the suspects involved in the shooting. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward anonymously through Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or via the mobile app MySAPS.
Just two weeks prior, another mass shooting occurred in Harare, Khayelitsha, claiming the lives of five individuals. Initially responding to reports in Ncumu Street around 6am, police discovered the bodies of four men and a woman. Investigators initially suspected a connection to two earlier murders in the area. However, the death toll later increased to eight individuals.
