The City of Cape Town’s Electricity Generation and Distribution Department has advised that parts of Hout Bay will experience electricity interruptions today as part of planned critical maintenance to be conducted at the major Bisschop electricity substation in the area.

Residents can expect disruptions to electricity infrastructure today, from 8am to 4pm.
The department explained that its teams will be carrying out important maintenance on critical power infrastructure to ensure a reliable electricity supply for residents in the area.
‘The City apologises for any inconvenience caused,’ added the department.

Residents are also advised that electricity supply could be restored at any time and customers should treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the interruption.
The city also encouraged residents to switch off appliances during the planned outage as a precaution and to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on.
