Police are investigating whether a JetSki found completely burnt out in the Blikkiesdorp area of Delft is in fact the same JetRIB that was stolen approximately 20km away from that site at National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) Station 16 Strandfontein over the weekend.

According to the NSRI, it appeared as if the burnt-out JetRIB had its engine removed and very little of the hull remained.
Based on the colour of the hull as well as the distinct keel strip, NSRI believes that this is in fact their JetRIB, which appears to have been stolen, and the trailer and engine are still missing.
Yesterday, the organisation issued a plea to the public to keep a lookout for its vessel that was stolen during a burglary on Saturday evening.
‘We kindly request your assistance in spreading this message to as many people as possible. Your help is greatly appreciated in recovering the stolen vessel,’ read a statement from the NSRI.
The NSRI is again appealing to the public for anyone with information regarding the stolen JetRIB to please come forward and contact the NSRI on 087 094 0974 or [email protected].
The organisation also issued a big vote of thanks to the whole Cape Town community and those supporters of the NSRI who helped to put the word out and be eyes and ears on the ground.
As a dedicated volunteer rescue organisation, the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) is available around the clock, ready to respond to emergencies in South African waters, with its primary mission being to save lives.
