‘As Cape Town experiences a record-breaking tourist season, we welcome our visitors. But we have a strict condition for your stay here,’ he says. ‘To our visitors but also to our local residents, please remember – alcohol stays at home. It may not be brought to any beach area. It will be confiscated and you will be fined.’

Watch:
Earlier this month, South African Police Minister Bheki Cele announced the deployment of an additional 10 000 police officers across the country to curb criminal activities during the festive season.
‘With just 15 days to go before Christmas Day, the police ministry and police management would like to outright assure the nation that all hands are on deck for the police to protect citizens and their properties,’ he said during a media briefing.
The increased police visibility was scheduled to start on 15 December.
