A much-loved family pet named Lola was shot in the tail with a pellet gun. The impact of the lead slug was so powerful that it snapped poor Lola’s tail in two.
Whoever was responsible for shooting the poor kitty clearly wanted her to suffer and judging by the extent and nature of her wound, the Animal Welfare Society of SA suspects that the shooter forcibly showed down the barrel of the gun onto her tail before pulling the trigger.

“We managed to remove the lead pellet under local anaesthetic whereafter the wound was cleaned and dressed”, says the Animal Welfare Society of SA.
Lola was discharged back to the care of her grateful owner who had to bring her in every three days until the wound had healed completely.
“When we told her that Lola had been shot she was shocked and extremely distressed to think that someone in her usually quiet Grassy Park neighbourhood could be that cruel.”, further added the Animal Welfare Society of SA.
The investigation into the identity of the shooter is ongoing.
