The SPCA received a report of animal cruelty on Tuesday, 20 June, and have been searching for the man’s whereabouts for questioning.

Jayden Faans, who claims to be a Facebook comedian, says that he posted the image on social media as part of a joke.
The statement reads:
‘Hi, friends, family, and animal lovers. As you can see the cat is not hurt, perfectly fine and healthy. The picture I took on the 20th of June was just for a meme and I do understand it was a stupid joke. From the bottom of my heart, I do apologise to every single person out there whom I deeply offended. I hope you understand.’
Meanwhile, one social media user commented on the apology, saying, ‘Lmao (laugh my ass off) people actually made it [an] issue??.’
