A 61-year-old man who was reported missing last week was found alive but dehydrated in the mountains surrounding Prince Alfred Hamlet in the Cape Winelands District.

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk says Patrick Xhibu’s wife reported him missing at the Prince Alfred Hamlet police station on Sunday, 12 May.
‘A joint search operation between Prince Alfred Hamlet Crime Prevention Unit members and detectives in conjunction with the SAPS Airwing searched the mountains on foot as the area could not be accessed with vehicles,’ he adds.

Xhibu was found on Monday in a state of dehydration and hunger and was airlifted to a nearby hospital for medical care.
