The body of a missing three-year-old child has been discovered in the back of an old car in Wellington on Tuesday, October 13. His sister (4) was found sitting next to him, and she has been rushed to hospital for observation.

The children were reported missing on Monday [October 12] reports TimesLive. They were found in a parked car at the back of a residence in Newton, Mbekweni, which is north of Cape Town.

Police and community members searched for the children on Monday night, but did not discover the children until Tuesday morning.

A death inquest docket has been opened and police are investigating the circumstances that lead to the boy’s death.

“Yesterday the boy and a four-year-old girl were reported missing by their parents after they were last seen playing outside their residence in Newtown, Mbekweni,” said Western Cape police spokesperson Col Andrè Traut.

No arrests have been made yet.
