According to her account, on 30 August, between 2:05pm and 2:30pm, she was driving on Wellington Road, heading towards town to pick up her children from school.
She was in the right-hand lane, preparing to turn right at the intersection with Paul Kruger Street when the driver of a white Mercedes-Benz, a man believed to be in his 30s or 40s, nearly collided with her from behind as she slowed down to make her turn onto Paul Kruger Street.
She flashed her headlights to alert the driver of his reckless conduct and proceeded to turn onto Paul Kruger Street. Then, after passing the first four-way stop and approaching the T-junction in Protea Way, she noticed the Mercedes-Benz tailing her closely.
‘At the T-junction, I made a left turn (into Protea Way). It was then that I noticed in my rear-view mirror that the driver pulled across the T-junction, opened his window and fired at me,’ she explained.
Two shots were reportedly fired, striking her vehicle in the backlights and on the window spoiler. She expressed immense gratitude that her children were not with her at the time.
In her social media plea, she implored the community to review their security camera footage in hopes of identifying the assailant. Her vehicle is described as an older-model gold Fortuner.
TygerBurger reports that Colonel Theo Fisher, the spokesperson for the Durbanville police, says the case is currently being investigated as an instance of malicious damage to property. It is suspected that the weapon used in the incident may have been a gas pistol rather than a genuine firearm.
