As per an announcement made in the official Government Gazette, the increase in fee will be implemented at toll routes and plazas across South Africa, spanning the Platinum Toll Road, the Huguenot Toll Road, the Tsitsikamma Toll Road, and the N17 Toll Road, as reported by News24.
Sanral’s general manager for communications and marketing, Vusi Mona, clarified that these adjustments align with inflation rates, adding that toll revenue is used to maintain, operate, and improve toll roads to provide safe and high-quality roads for all users.
The toll fees are categorised according to vehicle classes, including light vehicles (class one), medium heavy vehicles (class two), large vehicles (class three), and extra large, heavy vehicles (class four). Additionally, frequent users of toll routes will be eligible for discounts.
