The residents of Muizenberg are warned to be careful of an alleged scammer making his way through the area, and pretending to be a staff member of the City of Cape Town’s Solid Waste Management Department.
The Muizenberg Improvement District warned residents not to fall for the scammer who is dressed in hazard clothing and is asking for donations for refuse removers.
“Local security groups are reporting that a man wearing hazard clothing and posing to be from City of Cape Town’s Solid Waste Department is going around Muizenberg collecting ‘donations’ for council refuse removers,” the message reads on the District’s official Facebook page. “He even has a letter stating he is employed by City of Cape Town (dated 2017), and he is reported to have pulled the same scam last year.”
They implored residents not to give the man any money, and to ensure they report him to Grit Security Services on 021 788 8453 or Muizenberg Law Enforcement on 021 788 1148
