According to unnamed officials within the department, the glitch has persisted, leaving countless applications stranded. Home Affairs spokesperson Siya Qoza confirmed the issue, citing a technical problem on the SITA mainframe, disrupting access to the National Population Register.
Qoza reassured the public that SITA technicians were actively addressing the issue. However, the repercussions of the system failure have been severe, as people reliant on necessary documents are left stranded, wasting time and money travelling to Home Affairs offices.
