City of Cape Town Metro Police have confiscated cigarettes valued at nearly R1-million.

A 35-year-old man was arrested after he was caught transporting 70 boxes of counterfeit cigarettes, specifically the brand JFK. He was caught in the Ravensmead area on the afternoon of Thursday, April 16.

Officers spotted a light delivery vehicle driving about with an essential services sticker on it, and they found this suspicious. When they approached the driver, he admitted that he was transporting cigarettes illegally.
