According to News24, police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg reported that the incident occurred on De Kock Street in Strand when the assailants approached the victims, prompting one of them to seek assistance at a nearby fire station.
Medical professionals reportedly pronounced the 41-year-old victim dead at the scene, while the gunmen managed to flee.
‘The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested,’ said Twigg.
According to a police report obtained by News24, the deceased man was found in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
According to Jermaine Carelse, a spokesperson for the City’s Fire and Rescue Services, the other victim of the shooting took matters into his own hands and drove himself to the Strand fire station, where he received medical attention from on-duty staff.
Carelse reportedly explained that he had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was subsequently transported to Helderberg Hospital by Metro EMS in an unconscious state.
