It is alleged that the 55-year-old ordered the murder of a former police officer from Lozenets, and the prosecutor’s office also accused him of being complicit in a conspiracy to discredit high-ranking magistrates and police officers, as reported by Radio Bulgaria.
IOL reports that Bulgarian police raided properties and warehouses linked to Kamenov, and the prosecutor’s office formally charged him in March 2023. He was a fugitive during this time.
Kamenov was gunned down along with his wife, housekeeper and bodyguard. Colonel Andrè Traut, Western Cape spokesperson, says the motive is yet to be determined while detectives are still investigating the incident.
Reagan Allen, Western Cape MEC of police, urges the public to assist enforcement agencies to come forward with any information that might help the murder investigation. ‘I will engage the SAPS provincial commissioner to keep me updated on how the investigation is progressing. Those who committed this horrific crime must immediately be found and convicted. We have to stop all forms of killings.
