The remains were found by forestry personnel while clearing bushes in the area at a location situated on a pathway between Ou Kaapse Weg and Peers Cave, Fish Hoek.
The partially clothed skeleton was located in thick bush that was being cleared, according to SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie.
‘The scene was cordoned off and the remains were removed by Pathology Forensic Service to determine the possible identification and gender of the unknown remains,’ he said.
‘SAPS Fish Hoek have opened an inquest docket until further information can determine the possible cause of death as well as the identification of the person.’
