Save your cents. Petrol and diesel prices will drop on Wednesday morning.
Both grades of petrol will decrease by 71c/l. The wholesale cost of diesel will drop by 80c (0.005% sulphur) and 84c (0.05% sulphur). Illuminating paraffin will scrape off 43c/l.
According to the Automobile Association (AA), decreases are driven by lower international fuel prices.
According to a statement from the department, the finance minister was given the green light to raise the prices of petrol and diesel by 1c/l in May, aimed at enabling the industry to recover the fuel levy payment for April 2023.
However, there has been a change in plans, and starting from 7 June, the fuel levy will be reduced to 395c/l for petrol and 381c/l for diesel, as announced.
