Cape Town police confirmed that they have arrested over 400 wanted suspects this past week.
According to police spokesperson, Sergeant Wesley Twigg, operation Vuthu Hawe led by detectives saw 420 wanted suspects land behind bars this past week after they were arrested on charges ranging from murder, attempted murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, robbery, burglary residential and business, sexual offences, domestic violence and the possession of drugs and firearms.
Twigg said the latest arrest comes after officers attached to the Maitland Flying Squad arrested three males between the ages of 19 and 24 for the possession of a prohibited firearm and drugs on Saturday in Bonteheuwel.
“The members received information about a suspicious vehicle with armed occupants. The vehicle was stopped and searched and a pistol and drugs were confiscated,” Twigg said.
The suspects are due to make a court appearance in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates court on Tuesday 12 April 2022.
Meanwhile, Western Cape police management has also lauded the dedication of the police members in making sure that perpetrators on the wrong side of the law get their day in court.
