According to their lawyer, three men were released after being detained with two others in Belhar, Cape Town, on Sunday.
The men were wanted in connection with the murders of rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and his friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, according to reports.

The five men were apprehended in two separate operations, and police have revealed very little about why they were apprehended.
On Sunday morning, officers dressed in plain clothes cornered the men in a quiet corner of Belhar’s Erica Square shopping centre.
According to Netwerk24, the officers had been following the men for two weeks. This came after DNA and a fingerprint of one of the suspects were discovered in the getaway vehicle, which was found deserted in Umlazi after Forbes and Motsoane were shot.
Advocate Annelene van den Heever told News24 on Thursday morning that her three clients were released ‘in the middle of the night’ on Wednesday.
She also stated that her fourth client was still detained. Van den Heever was on her way to the Durban Magistrates’ Court and expected to learn more during the course of the morning.
Colonel Robert Netshiunda, a police spokesperson, said the department had no further information and reportedly didn’t know anything about the arrests.
According to police sources in KwaZulu-Natal, the men have not been linked to the murders, but investigators are determining whether they are wanted for other crimes.
