Concerns have been raised about the scenic Bloukrans Pass on the R102 road between Plettenberg Bay and Jeffreys Bay, which runs through the ravine of the Bloukrans River.

The Bloukrans River separates the provinces of the Western Cape and the Eastern Cape. The pass has reopened on the Western Cape side after extensive repairs.
The ANC-controlled Eastern Cape, on the other hand, tells a different story.
The owner of The Diesel Channel posted a video, which has gone viral, of what it would be like to drive through this iconic pass in 2024.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) governs the Western Cape province, which is the official opposition to South Africa’s ruling party, the African National Congress (ANC).

The Bloukrans Pass has recently been subjected to the effects of time and the elements, resulting in the deterioration of its infrastructure.

As safety concerns arose, it became clear that repairs were required. As a result, authorities took steps to ensure the pass’s longevity and continued use.
