A fire swept through an apartment building in Clifton, Cape Town, over the weekend, causing the evacuation of all residents.

The fire was caused by tenants who had left burning candles unattended while they left the apartment and went out for dinner. The candles were lit during loadshedding.
The extent of the damages caused by the fire is unclear at the moment.
