Naftal Zandamela was recently arrested by the serious and violent crime unit in connection with the death of Warren Rhoode, the son of Ramaphosa security boss, Wally Rhoode.
The Mozambican national is facing charges in connection with the stabbing of the 30-year-old, whose body was found in Thubelisha, Delft and Cape Town in April, weeks after his disappearance.
However, the family of the deceased believes that there is more to the fatal stabbing than meets the eye, and they are conducting their own investigation, putting up tens of thousands of rands for information, as they suspect that Warren’s Google Maps tracking data was deleted.

Speaking to News24, one family member, Quinton Rhoode, said police have not been forthcoming with information.
‘We are just pleading for more information, eyewitness [information] or anything really, just to tell us if there was anyone else involved,’ he said, sharing the theory that Warren was involved in a robbery gone wrong.
‘Or he went to fetch someone and had to drop them somewhere in Delft and this person or persons killed him, possibly because he might have known who they were,’ he added.
The accused briefly appeared in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court earlier this week, when the case was postponed for further investigation. Zandamela opted against applying for his release on bail.
During Monday’s appearance, it was revealed that he had several pending cases and half a dozen outstanding warrants.
The court further heard that he was out on parole at the time of the alleged murder after he had been jailed for house robbery. It is believed that his parole comes to an end in 2027.
Zandamela’s girlfriend was found in possession of Warren’s Huawei cellphone, which, as News24 understands, she told police she had received from him.
