The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has recently alerted the public of a fake media statement that has been circulating on various social media platforms.
The statement was titled ‘Introduction of radio licences as part of SABC’s drive to generate revenue’.
The fake statement caused a stir on social media, with many people expressing their concerns and confusion about the supposed new requirement.
However, SABC has confirmed via Twitter that the statement is fake and that there is no truth to the rumours.
While SABC has been exploring ways to generate revenue to support its operations, the introduction of radio licences for car radios is not one of them.
The organisation has stated that it has no plans to introduce such licences and that the fake statement was simply a malicious attempt to mislead the public.
