The South African Police Service (SAPS) and the City of Cape Town have agreed to utilize the SAPS services specialised units to form an inter-governmental kidnapping and extortion task force.
This comes after at least two more incidents of kidnapping in Cape Town this month. One resulted in the death of an eight-year-old boy from Nyanga, and the other the disappearance of a woman who was taken in broad daylight just yesterday, in full view of security cameras.
The City of Cape alongside the SAPS are ready to play an active and operational role in interdicting such crimes and ensuring conviction continue to take place.
The City calls on anyone with information to please report it to SAPS or the City’s 24-hour tip-off line on 0800 110077.
