A total of 17 suspects were arrested on Friday on charges relating to the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition and fraud.

Western Cape police discovered 14 foreign nationals staying in a local hotel, and subsequent room searches led to the confiscation of three Apple MacBooks, 13 Apple Pro iPhones, bank cards, and fraudulent identity books.
‘It is alleged that the suspects booked into the hotel and paid with (…) fraudulent bank cards. The five males and nine females were arrested on a charge of fraud,’ says Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi.
On the same day, members of the Lentegeur Police Serious and Violent Crimes unit received a tip about a suspect driving a green Fiat Uno. Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi says a stop-and-search of the vehicle and the occupants revealed a CZ 7.65 pistol with ammunition.
Three suspects were detained on a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
The suspects will make their respective appearances in the Mitchells Plain and Cape Town Magistrates’ Courts once charged.
