According to BNN, the man was apprehended while trying to break into the mosque on Tuesday. He reportedly managed through a window after failed attempts to breach the doors. The stolen items include a camera, two laptops, camera lenses and a hard drive from the media room, used for the centre’s educational programs.
Sheikh Sayed Ridwhaan told Southern Mail that the incident occurred around 1:30am. ‘It’s actually a despicable act and it is very shocking when someone breaks into churches, mosques and educational centres. In this case, it is probably someone who eats from the same place because we have a feeding scheme for the people of Eagle Park.’
The suspect is due to appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
