The South African Weather Services (SAWS) has issued a Yellow level 2 warning for parts of the Western Cape on Friday, January 7.
According to the SAWS, strong gale force south-east to easterly winds of 60-70km/h with a gust of up to 80km/h are expected to occur over the southwestern coastline in the province.
In a statement, SAWS indicated that wave heights are also expected to reach 3.4 to 4.0m between Table Bay and Cape Agulhas by Friday afternoon, with sea conditions being very rough and choppy.

The SAWS further indicated that rough seas will result in difficulty navigating small vessels at sea and persons with watercraft.
“Small vessels taking on water and capsizing in the locality is expected. Localised disruption in small harbours and ports, as well as beachfront activities, is also likely,” SAWS said.
