Another shooting in the Bo-Kaap area over the weekend has been reported and has left the residents of Chiappini Street feeling concerned.
As reported by the Cape Argus, it is alleged that young gang members of rival groups, the Mongrels and Stoute Moters from Van Der Meulen Street, clashed with the Hol Boys (HBs) from the Kraal informal settlement.

Both the Mongrels and Stoute Moters are believed to be the resident gangs from the Bo-Kaap. The HBs are alleged to be recruiting boys from the area of the Bo-Kaap.
In an online video posted by the Facebook group Cape Flats Stories, the two rival gangs exchange fire with each other in a 30-second CCTV recording.
According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie, the South African Police Service is ‘quite aware’ of the gangs in the area but maintains that ‘no complaints or cases were reported to local police regarding the incident depicted in the videos that went viral’, according to Swisherpost.
Pojie has also added that after the shooting, searches were conducted in the area by the SAPS, which led to the arrests of three people.
