Six people have been confirmed dead and four others injured when gunmen opened fire at a home in Khayelitsha. Police have confirmed the incident and no arrests have been made.

According to reports, an unknown number of gunmen entered a house in Solomon Tshuku Street in Site C on Wednesday afternoon at 4pm and opened fire on the occupants. Six of the 10 people in the house were shot in the head, the other four are receiving treatment in hospital. The injured at between the ages of 23-27.  There is no news on the extent of their injuries.

Police spokesman Brigadier Novela Potelwa said, on arrival police were told that gunmen fired shots inside and outside the premises.

“Six victims died on the scene while four were wounded and taken to hospital,” said Potelwa.

No further information is available at the moment.
