Residents and those who travel along Slangkop Road between Ocean View Police Station, Misty Cliffs and Kommetjie are warning that there has been a spike in recent hijacking activities.

Locals are advised to take care when stopping at viewpoints or parking lots, and to avoid doing so at all if possible.

Numerous muggings of cyclists and pedestrians have also occurred within 1km of the police station. Attackers have been reported to single out a victim and hold them at gun point or threaten them with a knife.

Those making use of these areas are urged to not take risks and to be aware of their surroundings at all times.

Any suspicious activity can be reported to the local neighbourhood watch and SAPS Ocean View.
