As a result, Stellenbosch University (SU) exams have been postponed by a week. Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Learning and Teaching Deresh Ramjugernath said that students will now start on 30 May. Recess will start on 4 July.
Ramjugernath reiterated that these changes will not impact the start date of the second semester: 18 July.
In addition, deadlines for this week’s assessments have also be extended by one week. Ramjugernath added that arrangements for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science would be announced soon.
SU says it’s taking into account the “mental health and emotional state of our students”.
