The Western Cape experienced a fierce storm accompanied by strong winds last night, leading to a series of incidents across the province. A tree has fallen across Boyes Drive in Muizenberg, obstructing the road near the waterfall. Authorities are urging motorists to approach the area with caution as efforts are underway to clear the obstruction.

In another incident, a fallen tree blocked one lane at the corner of Kendal and Durban Road in Durbanville. Drivers are advised to navigate the area carefully to ensure smooth traffic flow.
The storm’s impact also resulted in a power pole being blown askew causing power outages in Dennelaan, Eikelaan and Jakarandalaan. Repair work is being carried out by the local Breede Valley Municipality. As a result, these areas in Worcester are currently experiencing a power outage until the repairs are completed.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a Yellow level 2 weather warning for damaging winds expected in the southwestern parts of the Western Cape from Friday night into Saturday morning, as well as in the Central Karoo, the Cape Winelands and southern Namakwa on Saturday.
The conditions may cause localised problems for high-sided vehicles on prone routes, as well as some disruptions to road and rail transport, localised damage to settlements and loss of agricultural production.
Residents are encouraged to exercise caution and report any further incidents to the appropriate authorities.
