Earlier today, Mayco member for urban mobility Rob Quintas announced the closure of several roads, including the N2 off-ramp to Borcherd’s Quarry, the R300 ramps to the N2 inbound, as well as the N2 outbound and the R300 southbound.
‘The City is monitoring the MyCiTi bus routes, and areas where the Dial-a-Ride service operates, and will continue to do so for as long as the minibus-taxi strike continues,’ says Quintas.
As of this afternoon, Cape Town traffic officers are attending to incidents of public violence in the City, according to Kevin Jacobs of the City’s traffic services.
Reopened:
- The N2 is reopened to traffic;
- Jakes Gerwel northbound and southbound.
Closed:
- Potsdam Road between Malibongwe Road and Sati Road.
Stone-throwing and acts of public violence are a problem in the area around Govan Mbeki and New Eisleben Road, according to Jacobs. Motorists are urged to seek alternative routes and proceed with caution.
