Captain Wayne Theunis, the spokesperson for the Goodwood SAPS, says the 15-year-old was walking from school when another 15-year-old approached him. The suspect allegedly pointed a gun at him and demanded his cellphone, after which he fled on foot.
The victim recognised the suspect and followed him along with his father. After not finding the suspect at his home address, the pair noticed him walking on the corner of Hugo Street and Voortrekker Road.
According to News24, the pair stopped a passing police vehicle and pointed him out. Although the suspect fled, he was subsequently arrested.
He appeared in the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court on a charge of armed robbery.
