A reward of R1 million is being offered for information that will lead to the prosecution of the gunmen who fatally shot the City of Cape Town official at the Delft Symphony Way housing project in February 2023.
Kuils River’s Kloppers was on duty when she was shot in a case of mistaken identity in what is believed to have been part of a string of attacks carried out by the so-called ‘construction mafia’. The attackers thought that Kloppers was a woman who had been awarded a construction contract.
In a recent statement, Alderman JP Smith, the mayoral committee member for safety and security, announced that the reward is still unclaimed.
Alderman JP Smith said that anyone who has information is encouraged to approach the representatives of the City, who will facilitate confidential and discreet meetings, ensuring the establishment of ‘confidentiality agreements’ to safeguard the identity of the informants.
He added, ‘Our own internal investigation resources will advise the informant of the best way forward, with no obligation. We can pledge complete discretion and assure any person that may hold information, that we will treat this with the utmost respect.’
‘We already have a trained, fully resourced SSIU and SSIMS division and we already use our resources to assist the DFFE, our SAPS, the Hawks and many agencies including that of the FBI and abroad. Already with over 70 ex-SAPS members from various specialized departments, including Hostage Negotiations, Provincial Organised Crime Unit, Forensics and more. We are well capacitated to handle such confidential information directly and can stake our reputation on this.’
Anyone who has information can call the Public Emergency Call Centre on 021 480 7700 and request a call back from an official to discuss the matter.
