The City of Cape Town is all set to host the much-anticipated Cape Malay Choir Board Road March and the Tweede Nuwe Jaar Minstrel Parade, as permits have been approved by the Events Permit Office, signifying the green light.
Thousands of spectators are expected to line the parade route, which will lead into the early hours of New Year’s Day.
Residents and motorists are advised about road closures that will be in effect from 6pm on Sunday, 31 December until the early hours of New Year’sDay. Full details on road closures are available here.

The Tweede Nuwe Jaar Minstrel Street Parade is another highlight on Cape Town’s cultural calendar. Organised by the Kaapse Klopse Karnival Association, this event is set to see around 20 000 Minstrel performers lighting up the streets on Tuesday, 2 January 2024.
The parade will traverse Darling Street, the Grand Parade, Adderley Street and conclude in the Bo-Kaap.
