A pair of arrests in Kewtown, Athlone has followed an intelligence-driven operation in which police recovered two 9mm pistols and ammunition from separate properties, Cape{town}Etc reports.
SAPS shared details of the Operation Prosper intervention on 30 September, saying the operation was conducted on Tuesday, 29 September.
According to SAPS, a 39-year-old man was arrested at a house in Nerina Close after police allegedly found a 9mm pistol and 13 rounds of ammunition.
The team then proceeded to a second address in Koodoo Street, where members seized another 9mm pistol. SAPS said the firearm had no serial number and was found with six rounds of ammunition.
A 38-year-old man was arrested in connection with possession of a prohibited firearm.
Both suspects are expected to appear before the Athlone Magistrate’s Court once they have been charged.
