The police’s Anti-Gang Unit has been deployed to Belhar in Cape Town after a two-year-old has been shot and killed on Monday, December 27.
According to reports Utmaan Taliep was struck in the face when alleged gang members opened fire on each other in Sunata Way. Police spokesperson FC van Wyk said the two-year-old was taken to a fire station for medical attention but was later declared deceased by medical personnel.
Van Wyk said the circumstances surrounding this shooting incident are under investigation, and no arrests have been made as the suspects fled the scene. Meanwhile, Taliep was laid to rest on Tuesday, December 28 according to his Islamic rights.

A 15-year-old boy was also killed during a shooting incident in Lavender Hill on Monday, while a 14-year-old boy was injured in the same incident.
According to the police’s FC van Wyk, the Steenberg police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder after a shooting incident, while no arrests have been made yet.
