Following the taxi strike, Alderman JP Smith, the Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, joined forces with law enforcement officers to clear the streets of Cape Town, removing blockages that had been placed on the roads.

Alderman JP Smith shared a video capturing the scene in Dunoon, where adults were observed directing children to commit crimes while they loitered nearby.
