The City of Cape Town (COCT) has informed residents that every effort is being made to ensure that waste collection continues to take place as scheduled, over the festive period.
According to the COCT, residents should bear with their workers as there may be unavoidable delays in refuse collection, due to factors such as vehicle availability or COVID-19 mitigation measures, which may temporarily affect the efficiency of service delivery in some areas.
The COCT said waste will be collected on public holidays that fall on a weekday, as such, refuse will be collected as scheduled on Monday, December 27. However, residents can also visit drop-off facilities during this period.

The COCT further mentioned that residents should bring their bins out by 06:30 in the morning, and leave them outside until 21:00 for collection.
“The City’s Solid Waste teams will continue to work on weekends to clear any backlog which still exists. Excess waste that cannot fit in the wheelie bins will also be collected until this problem is resolved.
“Residents are also asked not to resort to illegal dumping if collection delays cause waste to build up to the point where it cannot fit in the wheelie bins,” COCT said.
Residents are encouraged to submit service requests for Solid Waste Management using the following channels:
