Residents should prepare themselves for the disruption of the water supply from 22.00pm on Wednesday, 28 September 2022 until 05.00am on Thursday, 29 September 2022.
The City of Cape Town says that this process is in preparation for the installation of a bulk flowmeter.
According to the city, careful consideration has been given to the planning of this work to ensure minimal disruption to the water supply in the affected area given the time constraints involved.
In addition, the dummy shut-off will assist to ensure that the network is completely shut off and no water flows into the affected areas at the time when the flowmeter will be installed.
During the previous exercise to achieve this on 29 August 2022, the maintenance crew was unable to shut-off the flow completely, therefore this dummy shut-off will be implemented.
Furthermore, the work forms part of the City of Cape Town’s Water Demand Management Strategy.
The city said that installation of bulk meters helps identify unusual consumption patterns and enhances targeted leak detection and maintenance programmes.
