The official dam levels in the Western Cape remain high, even though summer is well beyond its midpoint.

SA People News reports that the six major dams in the province, namely the Berg River, Steenbras Lower, Steenberg Upper, Theewaterskloof, Voelvlei and Wemmershoek, have a higher cumulative volume compared to the same period last year.
Data provided by the City of Cape Town on 23 February indicates that the combined storage of the six dams is 74% of the total, slightly lower than the previous week’s 76.9%.
A year ago, the combined percentage was 56.9%.
Theewaterskloof, which provides more than 50% of the province’s total dam capacity (480 188 megaliters out of 898 221 megaliters), currently stands at 71.6% capacity.
The next largest dam, Voëlvlei (164 095 megaliters), stands at 68.6%.
