The Muslim community started their Ramadaan earlier last month, 2 April and for the past 30 days this community has observed the holy month in the Islamic calendar. During this time Muslims focus on their worship, prayer, fasting and charity work.
Through out the month of April, the Muslim community has been feeding the needy from disadvantaged areas across the Western Cape spreading love and care.
On the 1 May they hosted a moon sighting ceremony at the Three Anchor Bay and true to his word of an inclusive Western Cape, Western Cape premier, Alan Winde joined in on the ceremony.
“This evening, I had the great privilege of joining in the moon sighting ceremony at Three Anchor Bay. This particular moon sighting has become a sacred tradition within the Cape Muslim community, typically marking the end of the month of #Ramadaan. I was very humbled to join,” said the premier.
