Police are searching for a young man after a video was posted to social media, showing him elbowing an elderly man in the face and knocking him out. The incident allegedly occurred on Saturday [December 19] in Observatory.

In the video, which is being shared all over social media, a young man and an elderly man can be seen in frame, while the young man’s friend films.

It appears the conflict began because the older man allegedly spat in the younger man’s face before filming began. The man’s friend encourages him to retaliate, saying “Are you gonna leave it like that?”. A few seconds later, the young man elbows the older man in the face, causing him to fall back and hit the pavement.

What happened after the video is uncertain. According to News24, a witness said the man stood up and walked away a few minutes later. Ward councillor Angus McKenzie made a Facebook post appealing for information on the attack, and wrote, “The victim has allegedly passed away”.

If someone knows the whereabouts of this guy called “Aaron” please contact the nearest police station or 0214807700.

The victim has allegedly passed away.
