According to Keep The Energy, a non-profit aimed at addressing gender-based violence against women, children and LGBTQIA+ persons, Diego Jacobs was walking home with two of his friends when a 20-year-old man who had harassed Jacobs about his sexuality approached them.
‘They used to live opposite each other and the man would always call Diego ‘die lelike moffie’ which means ‘the ugly gay,’ the non-profit stated on its Instagram page.
When their meeting turned into an altercation, Jacobs reportedly walked away.
However, the 20-year-old man allegedly turned around and stabbed Jacobs in the neck, swore at him and said, ‘jou moffie’.
The man has since been arrested and Delft police are investigating the case.
