The Zimbabwe Embassy has sent a team of officials to a bus accident at Hex River Mountain Pass between De Doorns and Touws River, where 13 Zimbabwean passengers died and 12 were left hospitalised. The accident occurred on Saturday, 9 March 2024.
As reported by The Herald, the Simlex bus company coach, travelling from Harare to Cape Town, collided with a commercial truck that was going in the opposite direction.

Reportedly, the bus driver jumped out of the vehicle during the crash but he did not survive the incident.
According to Esther Mudambo, Zimbabwe’s Consul General in Cape Town, officials from the Zimbabwe Consulate have visited the scene to offer their assistance to victims of the accident. Currently, nine people are at Worcester Hospital and three others are hospitalised in Cape Town.
