A change, ‘they’ say, is a good as a holiday! Well, we think that ‘they’ never took a trip through the magical Cape Winelands District, otherwise the saying would be “A trip to the Cape Winelands is as good as a holiday”.
Whether you have a free day, a weekend, or a week or two available to find your mojo, seek your Zen, rejuvenate your spirit, get in touch with yourself or commune with nature, look no further than the Cape Winelands where you can do all of the above and even more.
Before you decide where to stay, let’s find out what it is you would like to do.
Perhaps it’s time to spend some time learning something new – by attending a pottery workshop in McGregor or an embroidery class in Robertson, for example.
Sometimes we need to dig a little deeper and may want to learn more about aromatherapy, ley lines or the healing powers of mineral baths – for this you should visit Breede Kloof and Montagu. If you prefer a bit of geological history, visit the earthquake museum in Tulbagh and then take a weekend at the Invedoorn Nature Reserve.
Walking tours have seen a revival since our masks came off. For some fun, try the Lab’s three-day walking wine tour or consider joining the Tankwa Camino or Stellenbosch’s 16 kms Heritage walk. For those who need move more extensively to get rid of the tension, try a trail run in the Hex Valley or Drakenstein or star gaze in Touwsriver.
Whichever road you wish to take, visit www.capewinelands.gov.za and navigate to the map. Click on any of the fifteen towns and find your route to personal peace.
